Sarah Militana

Sarah Militana serves as a Product Engineer at The Health Co-Lab, where she builds and ships product features across the frontend and backend. Computer science trained, she brings over a decade of experience spanning healthcare software, data engineering, and product management, and she specializes in turning messy operational reality into software people will actually use.

At the Co-Lab, Sarah works on claims and billing workflows that translate Medicaid revenue cycle operations into usable software for client organizations. She builds internal tools, reporting, and data visualizations that surface revenue, denial, and billing patterns, and she writes the PostgreSQL that validates and corrects claims data when something looks wrong. She partners directly with community health center and public sector clients to understand where their revenue cycles fall out of step with payer requirements, then applies payer-specific claims rules to reduce denials and improve first-pass acceptance.

Her path to product engineering ran through nearly every seat around it. She began at Cerner supporting regulated healthcare software systems, then moved to Mount Sinai Genomics as a Financial Analyst, where she traced denial trends and built the corrective tracking that recovered over one million dollars in revenue. She has since led enterprise data governance at Rightworks, cutting downstream reporting failures by 75 percent, written SQL and managed release tracking at Anteriad, and owned end-to-end SaaS delivery as a Senior Product Manager at Sweet. That range is what lets her sit between the data, the engineers, and the client and speak all three languages.

Sarah lives in Austin, Texas with her partner, her dog, and two cats. Outside of work you will find her on a horse, on the jiu jitsu mats, or asleep.
